EDUCATIONAL GOALS AND CHARACTERISTICS:
The UCLA Sports Medicine Fellowship has been accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) having as its goals the development of:
(1) excellence in the prevention and management of sport-related injuries, (2)
an understanding of basic science principles applied to sports medicine, (3)
technical skills appropriate for operative intervention, and (4) an
understanding of the roles of a physician in the care of elite athletes.
The fellowship provides an opportunity for the individual to participate under
supervision in the care of UCLA athletes and patients of the UCLA Center for
Health Sciences. The fellow serves
as a junior faculty member supervising resident clinical activities related to
sports medicine. It is anticipated
that the fellow will participate in research programs in the Orthopaedic
Research Laboratories.
The UCLA Sports Medicine Program participates in the American Orthopaedic
Society for Sports Medicine's "Gentlemen's Agreement" and as one of the
participating Programs, we agree to interview candidates during a given time
period and will not require applicants to commit to the fellowship program until
they complete other interviews.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
(a) A signed copy of the application form; return of the
waiver whether signed or unsigned.
(b) A recent photograph.
(c) Four (4) letters of recommendation.
Three people who
have worked with you and one from the chief of your
residency training program.

UCLA Application
A California State physician's license is required six months prior to
the commencement of the fellowship.
